Ordinarily we live in a contracted consciousness. We don’t live in our experiences fully. We don’t even live all of our experiences. We don’t grow up properly. In addition, we have to handle past life karma. Go figure how does one correct all those, overcome all those barriers to happiness and live in the expanded way that quantum physics says we can. Why do we get “contracted”? We are born with some handicap that was given to us from evolution. These are called negative emotional brain circuits that are built into our midbrain, limbic brain in a place called amygdala. It’s part of the brain. We cannot do anything about it. They are unconscious. A stimulus comes, all of a sudden, we find ourselves fearful. We find ourselves angry, competitive, dominating etc. It affects our relationship. Then we lose that expansion that we are capable of. We become contracted instead.
And the way that we are built, the way our self-reference comes, the fact that we can see ourselves separately from the world, all that happens in a way that makes us somewhat me-centered. Cannot avoid it. It’s in the way that we are built. We have to forget our origin. Quantum physics says consciousness is the ground of all being. It’s one and only, expansive, infinite. But we don’t identify with that. We have a forgetfulness that is set up so that we can identify more and more with the world. It’s necessary otherwise we would not be a stable ego situation. The challenge is how to get that expansion back even while keeping the conditioned ego.
And this is what quantum science, the developing paradigm, new paradigm of science is teaching us. It’s giving us some hints as to what to do. Quantum physics says consciousness is the ground of all being in which both material and non-material objects are possibilities for consciousness to choose from. So, both material experience sensing and non-material experiences feeling thinking and intuiting they’re allowed. Additionally, there is the experience of the self itself. I am myself separate from the world. So altogether we have five kinds of experiences.
Many people today do not pay attention to their feelings, especially towards feelings in the body. Our science is too brain centric. Majority of scientists share the idea that brain does everything. Consciousness is not even needed. It’s a brain phenomenon. And that, of course, is the first problem. A worldview which does not allow consciousness is also a worldview which accepts that we are bound to be conditioned and contracted. This is the way we are. We cannot change. So first of all, we have to change our worldview. We have to recognize the quantum, understand the quantum, accept the quantum verdict. You cannot understand quantum physics without this ontology without this metaphysics. Consciousness is the ground of all being. But that’s identical with the spiritual metaphysics. And many scientists feel squeamish about the word spirituality. We have to accept that. We have to accept this fact that the world is spiritual, and that science and spirituality must be recognized as completely a whole. Together they make a whole. One without the other is not a whole.
Living the experience fully (sensing + feeling)
The second thing is to live the experience fully. What does that mean? Well, sensing. We all sense with the five senses. Everybody is more or less aware all the five senses and we use them. Some people use their eyes more than their ears or touching more than other faculties but that’s okay.
But other experiences feeling as I said many people ignore the feelings in the body. Feelings are not only in the brain but also in the heart. Women know that but many men avoid the heart. When there are feelings in centers called the chakras. In yoga psychology they recognize there are seven chakras in the body and four of them are in the body outside of the brain. Three of them encompass the brain. This is our situation. We have to be familiar with the chakras. Recognize that we have feelings in the chakras that affect us.
Feelings in the heart brings us to the awareness of love, romance. It’s a tremendous feeling. Immediately consciousness expands. But to get to that condition of the heart, get the heart to love, heart’s normal, heart chakra’s normal function is defensiveness coming from the immune system which is also at the heart in the form of the thymus gland. You have to make a quantum leap in order to make the heart a quantum ‘’device‘’, so that its physiology changes to include caring for others, love and goodness. You have to be active.
We have to learn, understand that such quantum leaping is built into us in our childhood and allow our children to do those things. Yes, mother’s love contributes, father’s love contributes, family love contributes, love of friends contributes and then when we become teenager, sexual love enters and that contributes. All these contributions have to be recognized and gone through properly. Quantum leaps are not hard, because it’s already built into collective unconscious. If we pay attention, if parents pay attention to the growing up of their children, then we could do it. But the developmental aspects of our life are always shortchanged by not proper attention by the parents, by the teachers, by friends. We have to change all that.
Development stages and “quantum leaps”
We have to recognize what quantum physics is telling us that development have stages and each of these stages there are conflicts and those conflicts have to be resolved and the child has to take the quantum leap. Special important is the quantum leap at the navel chakra that occurs at age five to let’s say nine and then the brain changes in a major way. This is what neuroscience is telling us. Very recent data.
But within those first years of childhood, it’s not only just building brain circuits. There are also these quantum leaps. There’s also there’s recognition of mother’s love which builds trust in people. There’s recognition of love of other people. Altruism that for some people is an instinct. So for some people it’s not an instinct but for those people for whom it’s not an instinct they have to be taught that yes if other people need help it is right to help them, expand your consciousness towards them. That’s how we learn that expansion of consciousness brings us happiness. If you give to somebody if you help somebody who is in need that actually expands our consciousness. We become happy in the process. This is what quantum living means. Expanded, happy.
And then at age five, a major change occurs because we undertake autonomy. But that’s a quantum leap too. It’s a quantum leap at the navel chakra. Before it was mother’s love and altruism, that’s all in the heart chakra. But now the navel chakra has to take a quantum leap. When Melissa does that, navel chakra forever becomes only security oriented and never opens up to have enough self-esteem to open up to other people. So, for relationship we don’t only need an open heart chakra, we also need to open our navel chakra, and this is very important. And then of course the brow chakra that’s the brain. Brain is important in our mental development. What do we have for the mind? What does the mind do? It processes meaning. It gives meaning to all our experiences. And this is, of course, very important for rational development which goes on from age six onto practically forever.
Neuroscientists are now saying that from 9 to 32, all these years we actually still grow the brain. Brain makes wider and wider use of its brain circuits. Initially the brain is using only the circuits very locally. Between 9 to 32 years of age we learn to use the brain more and more involving more and more circuits in a large area of the brain. And in addition, the psychology of development is telling us about the famous work of Erik Erikson on interventions from consciousness. First of all, about romance, and second of all, about meaning and purpose, directly coming from consciousness as intuition. We have to be sensitive to that today. Yes, we have some awareness of it. Every school has a school counselor that asks the students about career and counsels about their potential career. One has to make a living.
Archetypes, meaning, and purpose
But quantum physics is telling us that the all the careers of human beings are built in such a way as to be able to explore a particular archetype which are spiritual context that we live like, beauty, goodness, justice, truth, wholeness, abundance, power and self. In these nine important archetypes between age 15 and 18 we hear consciousness sends us messages in form of intuition. Stan Grof calls it the message of a built-in drive psychological drive of holotropy. A built-in drive towards wholeness. Holotropy means wholeness.
And we have to hear that. Once we hear that, then naturally we go into the pursuit of meaning and purpose. Meaning given by the mind and purpose brought about to us through the archetypes through intuitions. We pay attention to mental thoughts but going beyond the information processing that many of us get attached to these days that does not be meaning that excludes meaning. Information is what is computable part of thought what can be represented by symbols; computers can process the information and symbol. Meaning is beyond that. Meaning depends on the context and especially the spiritual context of the meaning. The archetypal context of the meaning is what brings us the purpose of life.
What is the meaning of life? What is the purpose of life? This question sought everybody in the later age teenage. And the answers come when we explore meaning when we explore the archetypes. And that answer is crucial in order to live a proper adult life. There are two main concerns of an adult life. One is to find a stable relationship. The other is to find a stable profession that satisfies you. But that’s the key word satisfaction. How you are going to be satisfied with what you do? How you make your living? Only if how you make your living is concern with the investigation, exploration, embodiment of an archetype.
Every archetype is connected to a profession. Count it out: abundance – for business people, power – for politics, goodness – for social work, social concern and love – for everybody, truth – for scientists and media people, justice – for people who are interested in law, beauty – for all the people who are into arts, music, novels, poetry, wholeness – for healers, doctors, educators, and self – for people who are looking for self-exploration, spiritual people, usually. Every profession was originally entered humanity because people were exploring particular archetypes. Today we have forgotten that. So, the main part of this integration that I’m talking about of quantum living how to live the quantum way is to bring back the archetypes in our life.
Usually, around the age 9 to 32, this part of the brain when the brain develops in a steady way and expands its scope all over the brain, this is the time to get into the archetype first through outer creativity. Creativity that we can share with other people and then inner creativity, spiritual changes that we can bring in our life through direct investigation of our intuition and the archetypes. And for that what we really need is just this one thing called creativity.
Creativity as the quantum process
Mystery of creativity, discovery of something new of value – this is what we have to learn, and that mystery has been uncovered by empirical researchers first and then quantum physics has proven that yes the empirical researchers are right. Creativity consists of four stages. Preparation, incubation – which is unconscious processing, insight and manifestation. Out of these, unconscious processing is totally a quantum process. Possibilities, when we are not conscious of them, they become like growing waves. They expand like waves, and therefore, you have more and more possibilities to choose from.
Quantum objects are just characteristic. Newtonian objects don’t. Newtonian objects can work only with one domain, the space and time. Quantum objects have two domains of reality. Space and time and then domain of consciousness possibility. And this is where bulk of creative work is done in the unconscious. The conscious level is important in order to propose to the unconscious to look at it. But the unconscious is where the creative processing happens. We do and be alternatively. Do-be-do, that’s the mystery of creativity and that is also the mystery of quantum effect, expansion of consciousness and remember that meaning and purpose grow properly.
Integration, healing, and flow
Do-be-do-be-do and, of course, in the process we develop positive emotion to balance the negative. We develop expansion to balance the me-centeredness. We develop meaning to balance the information processing tendency. We develop; we bring our archetypes into action in order to deal with too much centering on pressure. This is the way we handle our shortcomings.
Proper growing up is how we handle our difficulties with development of childhood development. Karma we have to deal with as they come into our lives. We have to get rid of the bad karma that may require some therapy, that request special attention but yes it can be done. So get rid of the barriers, grow up properly, take care of, pay attention to all our experiences, not just sensory experiences.
And always remember that creativity brings us all the good things of life. And then life at some stage becomes a flow. Becomes a flow where you don’t feel like you are making any effort. You’re just going with the flow. And that is the goal of quantum life to eventually learn to live in a flow.
